Positives: The negative stigma of Balotelli and Tevez is gone. Roberto Mancini going was good for the club at the right time and Manuel Pelligirni seems to be a good choice for the job considering his C.V. with Villareal, Real Madrid and Malaga in Spain. They have bought well with Fernandinho and Negredo in particular. Fernandinho was excellent in the Confederations cup for Brazil and will add steel in the Midfield mixed with a bit of Brazilian flair as well. Alvaro Negredo scored thirty- one goals for Sevilla last season and is a proven scored in La Liga and it will be interesting how he does in the Premier League. Jesus Navas provides width and pace which City did lack last season and will help them in games in which they are expected to win in breaking down teams who have all men behind the ball. City were laboursome in those type of games last season. They still have the best squad in the premiership and if Silva, Argeuro, Yaya Toure and the like reproduce their title winning form from two seasons ago City have a great chance of winning the league.

Negatives: City were poor defensively at times last season and they as yet have not addressed the issue in this transfer window. Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany did not have the seasons they had previously and the defenders around them were a revolving door most of the time which did not help either. If Pellegrini has as an idea of who will be his back line from the start that would help things but bringing in a fresh face there would not harm either. If things do not go to plan at the start of the season the mentality of some of the City players could go south again and it will be up to Manuel Pellegrini to keep everybody happy somehow if they do encounter a tough period. Also their league campaign could also hinge on how much they will concentrate on the Champions League. That will be a priority for them this season and it will be interesting to see if they take their eye off the ball in the premiership when the season progresses.

Prediction: 1st
