Positives: Not many I am afraid for Newcastle. Pardew staying is a plus even though Newcastle were extremely poor at times last season I do think Pardew is a good coach and was very unlucky last season with injuries. The players apart from Demba Ba that got him to fifth place in the Premiership the season before are still there and if they can keep fit and be consistent this time around with a few good signings Newcastle could have a good season.

Negatives: The appointment of Joe Kinnear as Director of Football has to be Mike Ashley's idea of a joke or in coded language trying to force Alan Pardew out of the door. How will these men co-exist I do not know but it has the potential to implode very quickly and the relative lack of signings so far implies that they are struggling to find the players that they need to improve the squad which they badly need if they are not going to flirt with relegation. The dressing room has been rumoured to develop cliques so to speak between the french speaking players and everyone else which won't help the morale of the squad either. If there is a split in the dressing room as reported that also needs to be sorted out quickly or Newcastles season can go downhill very fast. Also need to curb injuries if that is possible. Nearly got them relegated last season a fit team will help them not getting dragged into the relegation battle.

Prediction:16th
