Positives: Southampton are proving to be big spenders and with Dejan Lovren and Victor Wanyama coming in for relative big money Southampton and Mauricio Pochettino are putting their money where there mouth is. A top 10 finish is the goal and if they don't suffer from second season syndrome as so many clubs have suffered in the past then top ten could be a realistic possibility. They are good going forward and if Rodriguez, Ramirez and Ricky Lambert repeat the form of last season they can give anyone a game.

Negatives: Southampton fielded the youngest back four of anyone last season and the inexperience showed last season as their defence was very leaky at times last season. They have signed Dejan Lovren but they might need one or two others to try and stem the amount of goals that they did concede last season.

Premiership Prediction: 14th
